March Favourites!

Its monthly favourites time! I haven't done one of these for so long, I never even did a end of year favourites my favourite post of the year and I missed it out however I am back at it again and should have one every month so before this post is hella long here we go!

Love Tanya Burr, Mac Lipstick Mehr, OGX Coconut moisture hair spray, rimmel lasting finish foundation, boreal super liner, eyeliner, the body shop blusher and tea tree mask review jake quickenden, thirteen tv series, The A word, Supporting Autism awareness
Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation - I have been using this virtually everyday since around January so its fair to say I have gave it a very good trial and I have just loved it so much and would probably rate it above MAC's Pro-longwear Foundation it has an amazing coverage and doesn't break me out I then bought a replacement which has a red lid, for full coverage, I find this is a bit heavy so I am still testing this out however I really recommend getting the white lid with medium coverage as its a lot more light weight on the skin but still good coverage.

L'Oreal Super Thin Liner- I put this in my Top 5 Eyeliners post a few weeks ago and I have nearly ran out as I have used it so much I have been loving doing a thinner wing so this has been perfect, it has also lasted really well without me having to top it up, its also black which if you are an eyeliner addict like me you will understand where I am coming from as so many drugstore eyeliners are like a dark grey which is so annoying!

The Body Shop Blusher- I bought this on a spur of the moment whilst The Body Shop had a 3 for 2 and didn't know what to pick up, at only £8 I was very very impressed, it is really pigmented so I only use the tiniest amount. I find it lasts a lot longer than a lot of other blushers I have tried and gives a lovely healthy glow to my cheeks but please excuse the massive nail mark which I did literally just before I took the photo #bloggerfail.

MAC's Mehr Lipstick- I had been wanting a nude MAC lipstick as I was yet to own one and had been looking at this one for a while and put off buying it but I love it and is probably my favourite I own, its a matte finish so lasts an incredibly long time and the colour suits my skin tone perfectly, giving me the my lips but better look.

OGX Coconut Water - My hair was in terrible condition at the beginning of the year from over straightening not using the right products and generally not looking after it properly but I am very proud to say I rescued it without having little more than an inch cut off and I think this has defiantly helped I have used it possibly everyday since I bought it in mid January, I use about three squirts throughout my hair before I blow dry my hair then another two squirts every morning before styling, I have become a little bit addicted to spraying it with the gorgeous smell and how soft my hair feels, it also doesn't weigh my hair down which is great as my hair is quite long and fine so product often pulls it down. I also find my hair doesn't get greasy which often happens with products that add moisture.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Mask - I have used this on and off for about a year, I used to buy the individual sachets but they stopped selling these a few months ago but I had put off buying it as £10 easily got spent on something else leaving me with no money so when I got this for Christmas in my stocking I was excited to start using it, I have used it once a week in rotation with various other ones but I always go back to this one, it has really helped clear my skin up but I still need to get rid of small bumps so if anyone has any recommendations I would love to know. This helps get rid of impurities out of pores and also dries up spots and I can tell so much difference in my skin if I don't use this.

Love Tanya - This month I didn't really feel like reading a proper book so I decided to start reading this, I am so late to the hype of reading it but its so good, the tips in it are amazing and the recipes are gorgeous, its made me so excited for her baking book! I would defiantly recommend making a cheeky purchase especially if makeup, hair and skincare is new to you.

Pancakes- Now this is a very weird one but I have been loving pancakes with greek yoghurt, berries and a drizzle of honey on top for breakfast, it is so good!

TV Shows - This month I have been really getting into watching a few series' the first one being Thirteen about a girl who has been kidnapped for thirteen years and they are on a search to find her kidnapper, it is currently on BBC iPlayer if you fancy catching up, if you like the Broadchurch type of series I think you will love this as its filmed in the same sort of way but with a kidnapping instead of murder. I have also been loving The A Word about a young boy who's parents discover he has autism, i think its such a good programme and so interesting, I am also hoping it brings more awareness, so people don't just see people with it as 'weird'.

Music - This month I have been loving Jake Quickendens new songs Blindfold and Can't Stand The Rain, if you haven't listened to them go and do it, they are tunessss! There also quite emotional about his brother who died, but I am sure he would be proud of him and Jake needs all the support he can get so go listen and download because I love him!

What have you been loving this month?

Revision Tips!

Revision and exam tips and preparation, GCSE and A Level English Literature, English Language, Media and Geography help, Revision Cards, How to revise, Revision guides, Jane Eyre Othello and The Great Gatsby, AQA Edexcel and OCR

In no way am I any sort of exam expert, I have survived my GCSE's and passed so I feel like now I am in an appropriate position to share what worked, and how I deal with the extensive amount of exams all crammed into the space of a few weeks that could decide what you can do with your life in the future... (not to scare you or anything)

So I know both GCSE's and A Levels (which I am taking) start in about 8 weeks so I would probably advise, start revising now however I am probably hoping you already have!
I started off by making a revision timetable, this is particularly useful if you are doing GCSE's as there are so many subjects to concentrate on, I went from around 10am until I went to bed and marked out half hour blocks which I labelled with leisure time and each subject. This works perfectly so you don't start revising one subject more than another, and the subjects you find more challenging you can also choose to spend more time on. Another plus to this is that theres time to still  do what you love!
When filling in the timetable make sure you use small blocks with regular breaks, I found doing three quarter of an hour blocks and then a quarter of an hour break was the perfect time for me to keep concentration.

I'm sure you have been told this time and time again when revising but keep all technology out of bounds! If I got a pound the amount of times I got distracted by a message, tweet or Instagram notification I would be a millionaire! I found it even harder to not get distracted on social media if I needed the internet, so with my laptop I had to use will power however on my iPad I used a feature where you press home button three times that locks the rest of the iPad except the app you are using/need.

I love keeping things colourful, as if its just plain text I get bored so using highlighters, fine liners and sticky notes really helps me to revise, I usually highlight things in a text book, use pens to create mind maps and sticky notes are really handy to mark pages which just keeps everything very bright. On the topic of sticky notes is if you a really stuck with a subject such as maths, is that I got smaller sticky notes and chose three colours one for Can do it, Nearly do it and I have no idea I then put these on every page and once I new something changed it too the easy sticky note and I learnt everything in Maths, if I hadn't done this I don't think I would ever have passed!

My last tip is to create revision cards and mind maps because just reading isn't revising properly if you condense your notes into easy manageable sections your more likely to remember so more likely to achieve the grade you want!

I hope these help you, if you have any questions leave them below as I was thinking of doing a Revision Q&A but also leave your tips to help others!

NEW L'Oreal Clay Collection Review

When I saw the L'Oreal Clay Collection on TV a few weeks ago I just loved the concept and thought it might just be my saviour combatting the impossible of oily but dry hair as if you hadn't guessed by my other posts I am possibly the most awkward person in everything! Even including my hair with oily roots and dry ends, meaning I need a whole lot of moisture for the ends but then too much and it looks like I have poured oil on the top of my head.
L'oreal Elvive Clay Collection, new out hair mask, pre shampoo treatment, shampoo and conditioner, for oily roots and dry ends.
So with my problematic hair this was a must to buy so far I have used the mask twice and the shampoo and conditioner three times. The mask is for oily roots while the clay shampoo rebalances the oil levels claiming for 72hours, personally I would say for me it starts to get greasy after 48hrs but with a bit of dry shampoo it will last the full 72 hours before I need to wash it which is amazing as I got to the point of washing it everyday which was so bad for my hair!

I used the mask before I washed my hair as its a pre-shampoo treatment and coated all my roots leaving it for about five minutes, I had never used a clay mask before so it was a whole new experience however this is really hard to wash out but I am not sure if thats because my hair is quite long so builds up around the edge of my head. I then used the shampoo and conditioned the mid length and ends as normal.

The first time I used this with the mask my hair was incredibly shiny and I have never had shiny hair before, so this was complete breakthrough! However with the use of the mask it did make my hair go greasy about a day later which usually happens with hair masks anyway. I then tried the shampoo and conditioner on there own to see how they worked, although the conditioner doesn't make my hair as soft as I would like with the use of oil its perfect. When using just the shampoo and conditioner then following the rest of my usual haircare routine (linked here) my hair did not need washing for the 72hours claimed and was incredibly soft. So overall this has a massive thumbs up!

Bedside Beauty

I think you can tell a lot from whats on someones bedside table, whether its a book, a notepad or even just a few skincare bits like me. However from mine you can probably tell I am a girly girl with a romance novel, flowers and more products than I probably need! Granted it never usually looks this tidy but after a spring clean I thought I would take the opportunity to share my bedside beauty.

Flowers

Skincare essentials, products i use before bed, lush lip scrub mint julips, carmex, nivea regenerating cream, soap and glory hand cream, the body shop tea tree lotion, flowers, just a girl standing in front of a boy romance novel, retainer, braces, night, sleep
So firstly on my bedside table I have the Lush Mint Julips lip scrub which I scrub my lips with and leave on for a few minutes. I absolutely LOVE the smell however I don't use this every night as I find it can make my lips a bit sore, however it works wonders to make my lips super smooth. To follow this I use the Carmex Lip Balm. I have recently started reloving this as for a while I was using the Zoella balms but I went back to this and it works amazingly well, and you can feel it nourishing your lips especially if they are chapped.

Moving on to face I put some of the Tea Tree spot lotion on any blemishes I may have and it shrinks them overnight, it also isn't drying which I find many spot treatments are! I then use the Nivea Regenerating Night Cream for normal to combination skin which is an absolute bedside essential as it is so thick and nourishing, even though I have oily skin I find using this works better for me as many oily skin moisturisers can make my skin feel tight whereas this seems to make my skin more plump,  this is also one of those products where if I forget to use it one night I really regret it in the morning when my face looks so dull and lifeless!

Lastly I put the Soap and Glory hand dream on my hands as I find it impossible to go to sleep with dry hands! Once I have done this I finish off my night by reading my book and maybe catching up on a few youtube videos I then pop in my retainer and go to sleep.
